- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoComprensión lectora de textos científicos y rendimiento escolar en ciencia, tecnología y ambiente en estudiantes de 2do año de secundaria de una institución educativa del Callao(Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, 2010) Arroyo Montes, Carlos Javier; Álvarez Taco, Carmen LeniThe purpose of the research is to find the relation between the reading comprehension of the scientific texts and the school performance in science technology and environment in students of 2nd year of public high school of Callao’s Region. The sample is formed by 94 students of both sexes; they were evaluated across the test applied in the International Program of Students' Evaluation constituted by six fragments of scientific texts in the science area. The sample type is no probabilistic of correlational design. Finally, the results allow demostrate the teacher’s labor for initiating to the students in the field of the investigation and the usefulness of the scientific texts to the process of education learning.

To achieve the study it took a sample of 152 students in the third grade of secondary education, whose ages range between 14 and 17. The research is descriptive, with a correlational design. The questionnaire of the phase III by Olson (1985) was used as an instrument and adapted to our reality for purposes of research. The main results show that there is a relationship between family functioning and school performance, so do the dimensions of family cohesion, and the dimension of adaptability. In conclusion, family functioning is related to school performance.

The descriptive correlational study with a convenience sample of 96 students from two public educational institutions of Callao. Test was used metaphonological Skills (THM) by Gomez, Valero, Buades and Perez (1995) validated in Peru by Rodriguez (2003) and the Writing Process test (PROESC) by Cuetos, Ramos and Ruano (2004) adapted by the author (2011), both adapted instruments in Lima. The results showed that there is a relationship between variables, concluding that higher skill metafonológica greater reproductive performance in writing also checked the relationship between the variable metaphonological skills and the dimensions of the variable writing reproductive syllables dictation of de words, pseudowords dictation and dictation sentences.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoHábitos de estudio y rendimiento académico en estudiantes de segundo de secundaria de una institución educativa del Callao(Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, 2012) Ortega Mollo, Verónica; Muñoz Salazar, José ManuelThe present investigation was to determine the relationship between study habits and academic performance of students in the second grade of secondary education in a public school district of Callao, during the academic year 2009. The study was developed using a quantitative, descriptive, correlational design. The sample was not random type available consisting of 59 students. The data collection instruments used were the Study Habits Inventory CASM-85 Revision 2005 prepared by Luis Alberto Vicuna Peri (1985) which assesses five dimensions: form of study, task resolution, test preparation, listening as the class and accompanying the study, besides the Consolidated Assessment Act Basic Education Level Secondary Education 2009. The research results demonstrate the existence of a direct, high and significant levels between study habits and academic achievement levels of students in the second grade of secondary education, highlighting the size and resolution of preparation tasks testing.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoInteligencia emocional y rendimiento académico de los alumnos del nivel secundario de una institución educativa de la región Callao(Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, 2011) Cabrera Gonzáles, Marlene; Muñoz Salazar, José ManuelThe research presented here, was mainly aimed at establishing the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement in secondary level educational institution in the region Callao. The sample consisted of 268 students from 1st to 5th year of high school, whose ages range between 12 and 18. The Emotional Intelligence variable was measured by the Emotional Quotient Inventory BarOn ICE: In children and adolescents adapted to the situation in Peru by Nelly Ugarriza and Liz Pajares. In terms of academic achievement variable was used the ratings of the final acts of evaluation. The results showed a correlation between both variables. We found also that the level of emotional intelligence of students is in the average level and academic performance in the rating scale in process, in terms of sex, no differences in total emotional quotient and academic achievement.

The sample were 145 students of 5th and 6th grades. The Bar On Emtional Intelligence ICE NA inventory, adapted and applied in Perú by Ugarriza Ch. And Pajares Del A. (2003) (Complete form) was used. The results showed that there is a weak positive relationship betwen total emotional intelligence and academic achievement in math and comunication as well as in the enterpersonal dimension. And found no significant relationship in the other dimensions. It was concluded that students with high emotional skills not always have better academic achievement.

In total, 50 students, 20 men and 30 women ranging from 15 to 17 years, who completed the Inventory of Emotional Intelligence Bar-On Ice, adapted by Nelly Ugarriza in a sample taken in Lima, correlating with the record of scores in Mathematics. The results describe the positive relationship between these two variables. There was also a positive relationship among emotional intelligence, Intrapersonal components and general mood in Academic Performance.

The nonrandom sample available type consisted of 63 students from 6 to 9 years. Questionnaire was used for teacher performance, Valdés (2004), adapted by the researcher from the perceptions of students, valid (972 **) and reliability (.775 **) acceptable, and to measure performance were recorded mathematician grades earned in a math test of the Ministry of Education. The research results demonstrate the existence of a significant relationship (r = 0.684 **) between perceived teacher performance with its dimensions: efficiency, educational process, decision making, methodological guidelines and mathematical performance variable.
- PublicaciónAcceso abiertoRendimiento escolar en comunicación en niños de 5 años de programas escolarizados y no escolarizados (Red 9 - Callao)(Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, 2010) Cruz Luyo, María Lucrecia; Álvarez Taco, Carmen LeniThe following research is a descriptive and comparative study aimed to compare the school performance in the communicative area between 5 years-old students that belong to preschools with and without school educational formats (IIEEIIPRONOEIS), from Red No. 09, Callao. In this study, 135 students were taken into account: 105 students belonged to preschools with school educational formats (IIEEII), and 30 students belonged to preschools without school educational formats (PRONOEIS). All of them were 5 years old, female and male, from a low to middle socio economic status. The results showed that regarding the oral expression and comprehension skills area and the text comprehension and production skills area, there were not significant differences in their school performance among them.

Significant differences in comparing the results of both groups. Finding that the school performance of children of profit schools is greater than the children non – profit schools.
